2025 Video Content Trends – Predictions to Elevate Your Digital Marketing Strategy
It’s 2025 and the world of video content marketing strategy is set to evolve in exciting ways. From the rise of new technology to shifting viewer preferences, here are the top trends we expect to see in the coming year.
Let’s begin
Short-Form Video Content
Platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts will continue to dominate, with short, attention-grabbing videos remaining a favourite. Content creators should include fast-paced videos (60-90 seconds) with engaging visuals in their strategy.
From a business perspective, short-form videos can feel like a big-time investment with a short life span. This can be true, which is why we encourage repurposing content. It might be that you’re taking snippets of a longer blog post (like this one) and presenting it as a clip, or that you have a longer video or podcast that’s chopped into short clips.
The formula for creating a viral video can be broken down into six key components:
1. Audience: Every video needs to be tailored to your audience. Consider their interests, the type of videos they are searching for and what content they interact with.
2. Energy: The pacing of short-form video needs to feel exciting. Things that can bring a video to life include: Adding B-roll, sound effects, keywords popping up on the screen, music and different camera angles.
3. Authenticity: Videos must feel authentic. Viewers need to feel as if you are showing your true self so don’t copy a trend just for exposure as, although you might reach a wider irrelevant audience, you risk turning off your target audience.
4. Emotion: Videos that go viral tend to evoke emotion. Studies show that the types of videos that go viral spark one or a mixture of these emotions: Humour, surprise, inspiration, empathy, anger, anticipation As a business, avoid anger also known as ‘rage baiting’, this is common practice with influencers but going back to authenticity, this risks devaluing your brand for the sake of quick metrics.
5. Purpose: Everything -and I mean everything! – you share, must have a purpose. Always think, what is the purpose of this video, is it: Educating, entertaining, promoting? We often share behind-the-scenes content of us delivering talks, the purpose of these is to build trust and authority, and they encourage more events to ask us to give talks, increasing our brand awareness.
6. Storytelling: You have about 5 seconds (if that) to captivate the viewer and make them continue to watch the video. In addition to that initial captivation, you want the viewer to continue watching.
Each video should follow this structure:
1. Beginning – Hooking the viewer: This could be done through a question, a visually stunning scene, or an intriguing statement.
2. Middle – Building tension or emotion: The middle portion of the video needs to be where the story unfolds. It should build tension, emotion, or curiosity, drawing the viewer deeper into the narrative.
3. End – Providing a conclusion: The video’s conclusion should offer a satisfying resolution or a clear call to action. This leaves viewers with a sense of fulfilment, inspiration, or a desire to engage further with the brand or message.
Now, let’s get back to the 2025 predictions…
AI-Generated Content
AI… it’s all anyone talks about these days. It’s at a pivotal point, and its rapid advancement shows no signs of slowing down. This will only strengthen as AI tools become more sophisticated, making it easier to create and enhance video content. From automated captions to AI-generated avatars and voiceovers, AI will be seen more in video content.
An example of this integration is Adobe, who recently announced their new AI-powered features for its creative apps. They stated “you’re a creator, AI isn’t something to fear — but something to embrace.”
Key additions include to their Firefly AI generation tool include:
- Generate clips using text prompts.
- Extend shot durations, so now you can turn a 10 second clip into a 15 second one.
- First “commercially safe” video model trained on licensed content.
- Easy background detection and modification.
- Modify character colours while keeping the background intact.
These are all exciting features that will hopefully strengthen and refine the process of video content creation. We are excited to see what else will follow in the world of AI in 2025.
Tip: At AVC, we use AI to enhance efficiency and inspire creativity, treating it as a trusted partner rather than the one steering the wheel. While some brands rely too heavily on AI for social media—and it shows—we believe the best approach is to craft your content first and let AI refine it. This way, you avoid producing generic, overly robotic posts.
Behind-the-Scenes and Personal Content
Further reinforced by the rise of AI, there is currently a massive trust gap between businesses and the consumer with reports showing only 30% of consumers trust businesses. This trust gap will only continue to widen and businesses will need to prioritise earning trust. Informal, behind-the-scenes content that gives a look into day-to-day operations, personal stories, and brand-building processes will be more popular than ever.
This strategy will work especially well for businesses in the tech and cyber industry, where trust and authenticity are paramount. It’s not too late to include weekly behind-the-scenes video content in your 2025 digital marketing strategy, just remember it needs to serve a purpose and not become an afterthought.
Here’s some ideas for tech and cyber businesses to consider as behind-the-scenes content:
- Be transparent about successes and challenges
- Showcase expertise through case studies and blog posts
- Introduce your audience to the team
- Share a day in the life, or week in the life with your technical specialists
360-Degree and Immersive Videos
Immersive content, like 360-degree videos and AR/VR experiences, is set to drive greater engagement, especially as social platforms enhance their AR (Augmented reality) capabilities.
We’re particularly excited to see these features make their way into podcasts, especially the virtual podcasting space which tends to fall flat in comparison to professionally shot video podcasts.
We can also expect increased community engagement through comments and polls on platforms like Spotify.
While fully interactive, shoppable podcasts may still be a few years off, this idea has been trialled by Mark Zuckerberg, who appeared as a guest on the Lex Fridman podcast via VR. They could not be in the same room, so they filmed the episode using VR headsets, which placed them in the metaverse and made it look like they were together. Could this approach be the future of podcasts with virtual guests? We certainly believe so, and we’re excited about the opportunities for Cyber Made Human (our very own podcast) with overseas guests…
2025 Video Content Marketing Strategy Trends: Conclusion
It’s clear that video content is going to get even more dynamic and exciting this year. From short-form videos that capture attention in an instant to the rise of AI tools making content creation faster and smarter, there’s a lot to look forward to.
Embracing trends like behind-the-scenes content, immersive video experiences, and personalised storytelling will be crucial for staying relevant. As always, the key will be creating content that’s engaging, authentic, and serves a real purpose.
